Fredericton: Thomas Carleton, born in County Tyrone, Ireland, a Colonel of the British 29th Regiment in the American Revolutionary War and appointed New Brunswick's first Governor in 1784. Thomas was the younger brother of Sir Guy Carleton, Lord Dorchester.

Nicholas Pendergast was from Letterkenny, County Donegal, Ireland. He married, c1847 in Saint John, NB, Mary McCaffrey from Londonderry, Ireland. The family moved to Boston, MA.

PANB:MC1/Pendergast, 12 pages: Mary McCaffrey had three sisters who also came to Saint John: one married John Fallon and moved to Boston: another married a Mr. Kingsley and went to Iowa.
