New Brunswick Irish Trail

“Do not go where the path may lead; go instead where there is no path and leave a trail.” – Ralph Waldo Emerson

And go to where there was no path is exactly what they did. First they came one by one, then families started to trickle in, then, during those devastating years of the Great Hunger, the Irish came to New Brunswick in droves. They blazed their own trails within this province, literally and figuratively, and left their mark everywhere they touched.

This section of our website is a tribute to those early Irish settlers who played such an important role in making our province what it is today. Follow the breadcrumbs our Irish ancestors left behind through essays, maps, historical and genealogical information.

Above all – remember that this is just the beginning. We welcome submissions and encourage anyone with additional Irish-New Brunswick materials to share them through this website.
