The rich Irish heritage of the Miramichi region is easily seen in a listing of family names from the area. This too is reflected in names of the Clergy who, since the early 19th century, have been serving the spiritual needs of the parishioners.

St. Michael's Basilica has been the most significant Irish-related religious centre in Northumberland County since it first opened its doors in the late 1830s. However, it is certainly not the only church to serve the Irish community of the area.
