Journals/Diaries

"A page of my journal is like a cake of portable soup. A little may be diffused into a considerable portion." - James Boswell

People's lives are recalled in journals, diaries and letters written by ordinary -- or notable -- people. Often these primary source documents are helpful in understanding the activities and thoughts of people in history, but the more intimate aspects of their lives may still be unwritten.

The closer the source of information is to an actual event happening, the more accurate the picture that can be gleaned from it.

If you have journal or diary entries which shed some light on the lives of our Irish ancestors, and you would like to share them with others, please contact us so that we can publish them here.
