The Moncton Chapter of the Irish Canadian Cultural Association will be celebrating St. Brigid of Kildare on Saturday, February 1, 2020, at the historic St. Lawrence O’Toole Catholic Church.

St. Patrick may be the most famous saint associated with Ireland, but St. Brigid is arguably a far more important figure when it comes to Irish culture, customs, and lived tradition. Come learn who she was, the symbolism associated with her, and the traditions surrounding her which have existed since ancient times.

The day’s program is as follows:

11:00AM-11:15AM — traditional Irish music
11:15AM-11:45AM — Mass in honor of St. Brigid
11:45AM-12:10PM — presentation and Q&A on the cultural importance of St. Brigid of Kildare, Irish folk customs associated with her, the Brideóg, Biddy Boys, and more.

Afterwards, there will be a potluck in the Church basement with food and more traditional Irish music, dancing, and poetry readings. Donations will be appreciated. Everyone is very welcome to attend.
