The Southeastern Branch fonds are housed in the Heritage Room of the Moncton Public Library. The library is located in the Blue Cross building, Suit 101-644 Main Street, Phone 869-6000.

 

Access to the Moncton Public Library is from the Trans Canada Highway #2.

 

From the east take the exit #467 south on highway #15 south into Moncton. Proceed to the rotary and on to the stop light at Champlain Street. Turn right, west on Champlain, which changes to Main Street, and proceed to the Blue Cross Building, turning left onto Mechanic Street, then right onto Assumption Blvd. to park at the rear of Blue Cross Building.

 

From the west take exit #450 south on highway 126, Mountain Road. Proceed on Mountain Road turning right, south on Vaughan Harvey Blvd. to Main Street. Turn left on Main, proceeding east to the Blue Cross Building 644 Main, turning right on Mechanic Street then right on Assumption Blvd. to park at the rear of Blue Cross Building.

 

The Southeastern Branch fonds are listed on the New Brunswick Public Library Service web site http://vision.gnb.ca/. Most of the fonds consist of material of the Southeastern area of New Brunswick, counties of Albert, Westmorland and Kent. The English fonds are listed in the Vision database with catalog numbers commencing with “RA” and the French fonds commencing with “FR RA”.

 

The fonds consist of copies of birth, cemetery, church and death records, Directories, Family histories, French publications and Local histories; copies of Marriage and Misc. records and Research books and files, Scrapbooks and copies of Vital Statistics.

 

There are also several CDs and a Microfiche collection for Canada, 7 Eastern USA States, England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland that are not in the Vision database.

 

Researchers are encouraged to contact the Library by phone at 506-869-6000 for the hours of operation and to arrange for a Southeastern Branch volunteer for research assistance if required. Access to the Heritage room is given at the Reference desk on the second floor of the library.

 

There are no usage fees and photocopying is available through the reference desk staff. No food or drink is allowed within the Heritage Room.
